Tim Johannssen, a forward who made his NRL debut last season with the Wests Tigers, has left the club to join the South Sydney Rabbitohs, effective immediately.
According to reports by zerotackle.com, Johannssen was initially on a train and trial contract with the Tigers for the season.
He recently played his first match for the Rabbitohs in the NSW Cup competition, although it remains unclear if his new deal includes any NRL components.
His departure from the Tigers is unexpected, particularly as he was signed until the end of the 2026 season, with an option for next year.
Johannssen had been a notable performer in the pre-season, finishing second in the 'Bronco Run' behind Lachlan Galvin.
His journey is considered one of the feel-good stories of the 2024 NRL season, having started the year in the Sydney Shield, a fourth-grade competition, and advancing through the Ron Massey Cup, NSW Cup, and eventually into the NRL.
