Balmain Tigers have put the kibosh on rumors swirling about a potential exit from the Wests Tigers joint-venture.
The rugby league world was left reeling after reports surfaced that a Balmain board member was advocating for the club to go it alone.
Former first-grade player and board member Gerry Leo made headlines when he expressed his desire for Balmain to break away from the Western Suburbs Magpies, citing a loss of confidence in the Holman Barnes Group, which holds a 30% stake in Wests.
Leo boldly proclaimed, "It's time for us to fly solo and revive the Balmain Tigers.
the fan base is stronger than Wests'.
We're disillusioned with the current setup.
With Leichhardt Oval getting a facelift, we could call it home every other game.
Given the right support, we're keen on a comeback to the big league."
But club officials are quick to dismiss Leo's claims, asserting that Balmain remains committed to the Wests Tigers partnership.
Despite the turbulent waters, the Tigers are determined to weather the storm and stay the course.
