Castleford Tigers have announced that Craig Lingard will be taking over as head coach for the 2024 Super League season, with Danny McGuire joining him as his assistant.

Lingard had previously been serving as an assistant coach to Andy Last while also holding the position of head coach at Batley Bulldogs.

He continued in his role at Castleford when Danny Ward took over from Last, but has now been given the opportunity to step up as head coach.

Lingard expressed his gratitude for the opportunity, stating, "I am massively honoured.

Something I've always aspired to be is a head coach in Super League and I've got that opportunity now." He acknowledged that the timing of the promotion was a bit sooner than expected, but he is eager to seize the chance and hopes to be successful in his new role.

Having previously worked with the club and having experience with many of the players who will be staying on, Lingard is familiar with the workings of the club and the squad.

He stated, "I'm coming in with my eyes fully wide open...

I've got a good idea about the workings of the club and with a lot of change in personnel with people leaving and people coming in the bulk of the squad that are staying I've got experience of working with those guys."

Castleford Tigers will be looking to build on their recent success and continue to compete in the Super League under the guidance of Lingard and McGuire.

With their knowledge of the club and players, the coaching duo will be aiming to lead the Tigers to further achievements in the upcoming seasons.
