The Wests Tigers have officially bid farewell to English forward John Bateman for the remainder of the 2024 NRL season.

After being left out of this week's match against the New Zealand Warriors with little fanfare, the Tigers have now made his departure official, abruptly announcing the news shortly after kick-off on Friday evening in Auckland.

Bateman will be joining the Warrington Wolves in the English Super League for the rest of the season, but the Tigers have made it clear that this is not the end of his time at Tiger Town.

The club confirmed that he remains under contract for the 2025 and 2026 seasons, with CEO Shane Richardson keeping his comments brief.

"John leaving Wests Tigers for the back end of the season is something that all parties are comfortable with," Richardson stated, acknowledging the bittersweet decision to let Bateman go.
