"It was like watching a classic game of footy when Tom Trbojevic made the selfless move to offer a salary reduction," said veteran Sea Eagles hooker Lachlan Croker.
"It's just the kind of team player he is - always putting the club first."
Trbojevic's gesture, which aimed to save the club $750,000 over two years, was a nod to the games he missed due to injury - a true example of mateship and loyalty within the team.
Despite the NRL ultimately rejecting the offer and guaranteeing Trbojevic a hefty $1.1m per season, the fullback remained humble and focused on his upcoming milestone of playing his 150th NRL match.
"I had a yarn with Seibs and the management team, but at the end of the day, footy is my passion and I'm stoked to be back on the field for another couple of years," Trbojevic shared.
"I can't wait to represent this club and give it my all."
In true sportsman spirit, Trbojevic remained optimistic despite his run of injuries, showcasing his resilience and determination both on and off the field.
And with his impressive performance in the 2021 Dally M Medal, it's clear that this footy star is ready to take on whatever challenges come his way.
