2GB's Continuous Call Team will be substantially reduced in 2027, with Saturday broadcasts moving from a 1pm start to 5pm and Sunday coverage beginning at 4pm.
The schedule change emerged on Thursday, alongside news that Sydney station 2SM had ended its "Talkin' Sport" program after 24 years.
Hosted by Graeme Hughes, the show was reportedly cancelled minutes before broadcast, leaving its presenters unable to farewell listeners.
Hughes, a former Canterbury Bulldogs player and NSW first-class cricketer, told The Daily Telegraph: "It's so disappointing that we were not allowed to thank so many people that had been on-air and who have supported us over such a long time - 24 years.
"We had a wonderful 24 years. It's terribly disappointing not to be able to say goodbye and we're disappointed in the way it was done. We're also disappointed that we couldn't get to speak to so many people who supported us over 24 years."
Former Test spinner Gavin Robertson and ex-Wallabies and Roosters centre Brett Papworth co-hosted, with Eric Grothe Sr and Mark Carroll among the regular panellists.
Veteran journalist Phil 'Buzz' Rothfield wrote: "I've had my 'moments' with Graeme Hughes but it's sad," adding, "Don't like seeing any sports shows chopped."
Daily Telegraph columnist 'The Oracle' said: "After 24 years, Talkin Sport was axed 30 minutes before the show was to go to air. No explanation. Disgraceful way to end things."
A social media creator recalled Hughes's calls alongside early Warriors players, saying: "Brutal. Graeme Hughes's calls were so iconic back in the day, and I associate it with all the early Warriors teams. Joe Vagana, Sean Hoppe, Tony Tatupu...I hear his voice when I think of their names."
