Sydney Roosters tap former premiership stars

NRL Round 25, 2025: Parramatta Eels vs Sydney Roosters

Paul Momirovski replaces Brett Morris as Roosters NSW Cup coach; Morris joins Trent Robinson's staff for 2027.

Momirovski led the club's Harold Matthews junior side to last season's grand final, where Newcastle won 22-0.

The Daily Telegraph reports Sam Moa will return from Parramatta, where he worked under Jason Ryles, to join Robinson's staff.

Moa played in Robinson's 2013 premiership-winning team.

After three seasons coaching NSW Cup, Morris' side reached the 2026 finals, having missed out in 2024 and 2025.

The appointments replace Matt King and Michael Cheika, who are heading to the NSW Waratahs and NSW Blues in State of Origin, respectively.

Tait Barnes stays, and former Sydney Swans AFL premiership winner Nick Davis continues coaching kicking and catching across the club.

The 2026 NRL premiers will aim to defend their title despite major roster and staff losses, with the Sam Walker saga also unsettling Bondi.
