Kangaroos weigh Mitchell's semi-final role

Latrell Mitchell hits back amid questions over 'surprising' Kangaroos absence

A fit Latrell Mitchell remains a potential attacking option for Australia in Sunday's World Cup semi-final, despite losing his starting place.

Kevin Walters said on Sunday that Mitchell was not the Kangaroos "forgotten man," although Bradman Best had played left centre in the previous two matches.

The semi-final is at Allianz Stadium, and Walters is prepared to use Mitchell from the interchange bench if he is not selected to start.

Walters said he would give Mitchell a clear brief if called upon.

"[I'd tell him to] Go and create something because Latrell is a creator - he can do things not many others can on the field," Walters said.
