Tarryn Aiken's return to the halves has given Jocelyn Kelleher renewed confidence ahead of Sunday's NRLW grand final against Brisbane.
Kelleher played halfback in last year's decider after Aiken ruptured her ACL before the finals.
The Roosters recovered from a 12-0 half-time deficit to lead 18-12, but Mele Hufanga scored five minutes from fulltime to secure Brisbane a 22-18 win.
The defeat denied the minor premiers a third title and ended their hopes of an undefeated season.
Kelleher told AAP she still carries the loss with her.
"There's a lot of hurt and pain from last year,"
"Me in particular, I feel like I let the team down. I was the halfback, so I was pretty upset."
"I pretty much just feel like I let the team, I let the club, I let everyone down with what happened on the field."
"I definitely feel it. Hopefully, we can get it back this year."
The Roosters are undefeated minor premiers again and beat Brisbane 34-20 in round seven.
Sunday's match is the fourth grand final between the NRLW's two leading clubs in nine seasons; the four-time premiers have had the better of the Roosters in finals.
Kelleher and Aiken will face Brisbane's Jesse Southwell and Ali Brigginshaw, who is retiring after the match.
Brigginshaw impressed in the preliminary final against Gold Coast, including against Teagan Levi, the rugby sevens star.
Kelleher praised the Broncos pairing but said working alongside Aiken made her feel more confident.
"She's an inspiration to me," Kelleher said.
"Just knowing that we get to work together rather than just trying to do it myself last year, definitely gives me a bit more confidence in myself as well."
"Ali and Jesse have played really well this year, credit to them, they're steering the Broncos around really well, but we've got Tarryn and we didn't have her last year."
"I can't wait to see what she pulls out on the weekend."
