The Melbourne Storm has released news regarding Tyran Wishart, who had to exit the game against the Dolphins during the first half.
While attempting to score, Wishart experienced a syndesmosis injury as an opponent's weight landed on his ankle, causing it to twist unnaturally.
Fortunately, he will not require surgery and will begin rehabilitation with the Storm's medical team.
Following scans that revealed a moderate grade injury, Wishart is expected to be out for a period of four to six weeks.
The Gerringong Lion junior had been stepping in for halfback Jahrome Hughes while the Storm grappled with their seventh consecutive defeat since round two of the current season.
Hughes is set to make his return this week after successfully passing protocols related to a head injury sustained in the loss against the Rabbitohs on Anzac Day.
Wishart is also a significant acquisition for Mal Meninga's Perth Bears, a team that will debut in the league in 2027.
This Sunday, the Storm is scheduled to face the Wests Tigers on Mother's Day, seeking to turn around their season after an unprecedentedly poor start.
