Melbourne Storm's head coach, Craig Bellamy, has expressed concerns that Nick Meaney may be sidelined for an extended period due to a calf injury.
Meaney exited the match against the Sydney Roosters after just 15 minutes, seeking treatment for leg discomfort, as the Storm secured a hard-fought 18-4 victory.
"I'd say he'd be gone for about three or four weeks, I'd think," Bellamy remarked during his post-match press conference when discussing Meaney's condition.
"Calves can be very touchy ... I don't know exactly how bad it is and the medical team won't know until they scan him."
He added, "There was no, 'oh we will try get him through the next 10 minutes and see how he goes', it was 'no, we need to get him off'."
As the season progresses, Meaney is set to leave Melbourne, joining Mal Meninga and the Perth Bears for their inaugural season in 2027.
On Saturday night, the Storm capitalized on errors from the Roosters, who committed 18 turnovers.
This allowed Sua Fa'alogo to shine in the fullback role.
The Samoan international concluded the match with over 300 run metres and three line breaks, contributing significantly despite not scoring a try.
