St George Illawarra seek new sponsor

St George Illawarra Dragons Training Session

Six incoming players are expected to reshape the St George Illawarra Dragons before the 2027 NRL season: Keaon Koloamatangi, Scott Drinkwater, Luke Metcalf, Kodi Nikorima, Connor Watson and Phil Sami.

Coach Dean Young is overseeing the rebuild as the club searches for a new major sponsor. Squadron Energy will end its partnership at the close of October, concluding a deal worth $1.2 million per season.

The company took the prominent jersey position in 2024 and held it for two seasons, following St George Bank. During the 2026 season, it gave up its branding for Indigenous Round so teenage Indigenous artist Kooriaani Dunn's artwork could feature on the jersey.

The Dragons are seeking their fourth major sponsor in around 30 years. They will need an agreement in place as jersey manufacturing begins before the busy year-end period.

A new sponsor and a substantially changed squad mark a pivotal period for the club, which Young hopes to guide back towards its earlier success.
