Scott Sorensen of the Penrith Panthers has been found guilty of a Grade 2 shoulder charge at the NRL judiciary, failing in his attempt to have the charge downgraded.
According to reports from zerotackle.com, Sorensen was cited following a loss to the Manly Sea Eagles, marking Penrith's sixth defeat in eight games this season.
The incident, involving a shoulder charge on Manly lock Nathan Brown, resulted in Sorensen being sin binned during the match and subsequently charged the next day.
The NRL judiciary holds a strict view towards shoulder charges, and although this was Sorensen's first offence in a 12-month period, he faced a two-match suspension if he accepted an early guilty plea.
Instead, he opted to challenge the charge in hopes of a downgrade, which would have allowed him to pay a fine and participate in the upcoming Magic Round.
However, after a hearing lasting less than 90 minutes, the Grade 2 verdict was upheld, confirming the initial ruling.
