The Manly Sea Eagles have pinpointed a potential successor for Reuben Garrick with Starford To'a emerging as a prime candidate.
Garrick is set to leave the Sea Eagles at the end of the season after signing a lucrative three-year deal with the Sydney Roosters that kicks in from 2027.
This development opens up a starting position on the Northern Beaches, with the Daily Telegraph indicating that Starford To'a is being considered for Kieran Foran's squad.
To'a received clearance from the Wests Tigers to explore new opportunities, despite having signed an extension last year.
Reports suggest that the Tigers are attempting to free up funds to retain key players, including Samuela Fainu.
Additionally, the club has secured Jake Averillo on a long-term contract for 2027 as a contingency plan for Jarome Luai, who will be leaving after next season.
The Sea Eagles boast an impressive backline depth and can also explore options like Clayton Faulalo or Josh Feledy for the right center position.
With Blake Wilson, who has NRL experience, available as well, the Sea Eagles have several options to adjust their backline following Garrick's exit.
To'a has accumulated 88 appearances since making his NRL debut in 2019 with the Newcastle Knights.
He transitioned to Sydney in 2022 and has now spent five years with the Tigers, while also representing Tonga internationally in 2023.
However, To'a has faced challenges securing a starting spot this season due to rising talent like Heamasi Makasini, limiting him to just three appearances in 2026.
