The Sydney Roosters N.S.W. Cup team kicked off their season spectacularly with a dominant win over the reigning champions.

In an impressive beginning to the N.S.W. Cup, the Roosters triumphed 48-14 against the New Zealand Warriors, scoring ten tries to three in their Round One encounter in Auckland on Friday.

Despite missing five crucial players, including Cody Ramsey and Jake Elliott, the Roosters secured a commanding 28-0 lead by halftime with six tries.

This victory marked the Roosters' first win against the Warriors since returning to the competition in 2023.

Nineteen-year-old Lachlan Dooner supported Reece Foley in the halves, while fellow teen Josiah Fesolai made his N.S.W. Cup debut at hooker alongside Jaxson Allen.

Foley's standout performance contributed to five first-half tries, aided by the impressive efforts of forwards like Salesi Foketi, who accrued 191 metres and 31 tackles.

Jaxson Allen shone in the hooker role for 52 minutes, scoring twice, while debutant Tommy Talau also notched two tries before sustaining a potentially serious knee injury.

The Roosters will face the South Sydney Rabbitohs next on Sunday, aiming for consecutive victories after the Rabbitohs' heavy loss to the Newcastle Knights.
