Sydney Roosters head coach Trent Robinson has criticized the Newcastle Knights for their negotiation tactics regarding winger Dominic Young.
Despite being 18 months into a four-year contract with the Roosters, Young has recently been linked to a potential exit back to Newcastle, especially after he was dropped to reserve grade by Robinson.
"There's been some media rhetoric suggesting we're pushing Young out, but that couldn't be further from the truth," Robinson explained.
He clarified that the Knights initiated contact with the Roosters, requesting them to cover Young's entire contract for 2025.
Robinson expressed his frustration over the narrative, stating, "Dom is here, he played on the weekend.
To be honest, all that has been fairly annoying.
It's not to do with any of you guys [the media], but the way it was put out there, it's as if we were trying to push him out."
In related news, Robinson confirmed that Brandon Smith has undergone a medical examination with the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
