Robinson: Cherry-Evans chase still on, nothing's changed

Coach Trent Robinson has provided an update on the Sydney Roosters' interest in signing Daly Cherry-Evans for 2026, stating that while they are still keen, "nothing has changed." According to reports from zerotackle.com, the Roosters' pursuit of Cherry-Evans has sparked curiosity in the league, particularly because it could result in the loss of young talent Sandon Smith, who is rumored to be heading to the North Queensland Cowboys.

If Cherry-Evans joins, Sam Walker would shift to play five-eighth, allowing Cherry-Evans to conclude his career with the Roosters.

Cherry-Evans, a former Queensland captain, has faced challenges in his performance at the Manly Sea Eagles following his announcement to leave the club at the season's end.

This has placed him in a position where the Roosters may be his only viable option.

There were rumors that the Roosters had cooled their interest in the accomplished halfback, but Robinson clarified that this was not true, indicating that while discussions have not progressed, their interest remains.
