In a shocking turn of events during the Roosters' NRL semi-final loss to the Storm, referee Ashley Klein was caught in a telling act.

Klein was overheard apologizing to James Tedesco, the Roosters' captain, after making a horrendous blunder.

The blunder occurred when Klein missed a blatant knock-on from Harry Grant while the Roosters were on the attack in the first half.

Grant was attempting to regather the ball after it had been batted back by a Roosters player, but he failed to collect it cleanly before it hit the ground.

Despite this, Klein ruled that Grant had caught the ball without knocking on, awarding the Storm a penalty in the ensuing set.

To add insult to injury, the Storm scored in the very next set, increasing their lead to 10-0.

Fans and commentators expressed their frustration and disbelief over Klein's missed call.

In fact, Klein himself was heard apologizing to Tedesco after the try.

Tedesco voiced his disappointment, saying, "That wasn't even close! You've gotta give us the benefit of the doubt! That was obvious!"
