In a recent round of NRL action, records shattered and long-standing droughts ended, with significant developments for teams such as Manly, the Tigers, and an intense battle between the Storm and Dragons.
Storm struggles escalate
The Storm faced a devastating loss against the Rabbitohs, marking a record sixth consecutive defeat for the team.
This downturn equates to their previous streak of six straight losses that occurred from Rounds 7 to 13 back in 2002.
Having conceded 48 points-a mere two weeks after allowing 50 against Penrith- the Storm has suffered their second and fourth heaviest defeats in club history over the last month.
Moreover, this marks the highest total of points ever surrendered by the club over a six-week period, placing them at the lowest position they have held in the table, excluding the 2010 season where points were not an option.
Tackling efficiency has notably declined; last season, they led the league by winning 48.5% of tackle positions. This season, they have plummeted to 39.6%, ranking 14th currently.
After Round 2 of this season, the Storm was placed 2nd for run metres, post-contact metres, and tackle busts, and 3rd for total metres after offloads. However, following the clash with the Broncos in Round 3, they have dropped to 17th in those categories, except for tackle busts, where they are now 12th.
Additionally, they recorded their highest number of line breaks conceded in a single game, with a 24-0 halftime score representing their worst halftime performance at AAMI Park.
