Canberra's hopes for the premiership have suffered a major setback, as winger Xavier Savage has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to a fractured shoulder.
Initially, Savage attempted to play through the injury but did not return after halftime. Subsequent scans confirmed the severity of his condition.
The Raiders are still waiting to determine if Savage will need surgery, but he will not be returning to the field this year, regardless.
The 23-year-old has been one of the standout young talents for the Raiders this season, contributing significantly with 12 tries during the team's ascent to the top of the table.
In place of Savage, Canberra will soon welcome back Savelio Tamale, who is recovering from a fractured kneecap. Tamale is expected to take over Savage's position on the wing.
Meanwhile, Jed Stuart is set to retain his place on the Raiders' other wing, having proven his capability after being encouraged by senior players, including coach Ricky Stuart, to make his debut in June.
