Newtown Jets forward Tuku Hau Tapuha has looked back on their epic NSW Cup triumph over the North Sydney Bears as they gear up for the NRL State Championship showdown this weekend.
After two regular season losses to the Bears, the Jets managed to weather a late comeback from their opponents to clinch their ninth NSW Cup title, showcasing their skills on both attack and defense.
Guided by halfback Niwhai Puru, who was named Player of the Match, the Jets secured a hard-fought victory by six points, narrowly avoiding defeat in the dying moments of the game.
Although Puru stole the spotlight, the dynamic front-row partnership of Braden Hamlin-Uele and Tuku Hau Tapuha played crucial roles in the team's success with stellar performances on the field.
Reflecting on the win, Tapuha shared, "Someone once said that nothing beats the feeling of seeing your child being born.
Let me tell you, a grand final win comes pretty damn close.
And he was spot on."
