NRL fans in Bathurst may be disappointed as the Panthers' star halfback, Nathan Cleary, is still sidelined with a pesky hamstring injury.

The Panthers are seeking redemption for last year's shock loss to the Wests Tigers, who caught them off guard in Bathurst.

Cleary has been sidelined since his early exit in the grand final rematch, where he was in fine form before his recurring hamstring issue flared up once again.

While the Panthers managed to secure a win against the Roosters without him, they were outplayed by the Sea Eagles in their previous match.

Fortunately, Cleary's halves partner, Jarome Luai, is expected to be fit for the upcoming clash.

Despite initial hopes for Cleary's return after the bye, reports suggest that he may have experienced a setback in his recovery.

Fullback Dylan Edwards remained optimistic, noting that Cleary is eager to get back on the field but understands the importance of ensuring he is fully recovered before making his return.

As the clock ticks down to the weekend showdown against the Wests Tigers, the Panthers remain hopeful that Cleary will be able to join them on the field and help lead them to victory.

The team is determined to avenge their previous loss and show their resilience in the face of adversity.
