Munster's Future with Storm Uncertain

The Melbourne Storm have announced their intentions to provide Cameron Munster with a contract extension if he wishes to continue playing beyond 2027.

The star five-eighth and Queensland captain has remained a focal point in media discussions for over a year, with speculation linking him to various teams, including the Perth Bears, the PNG Chiefs, and even rugby union.

Initially, there was talk of him being a potential option for Rugby 360, scheduled to launch at the end of 2026.

At that time, the Storm expressed their willingness to engage with Munster about his future, recognizing that offers from other clubs could surpass what Melbourne could provide.

Historically, the Dolphins had also shown interest in signing him, yet Munster has remained committed to the Storm, fulfilling his contract until the end of 2027.

Speculation over Munster's departure intensified when the club evaluated Jonah Pezet's situation, but with the departure of a player who was once essential to the team-especially after Jahrome Hughes extended his contract through 2028-the Storm is now eager to keep Munster as he approaches the latter part of his career.

In an interview with News Corp, Storm CEO Matt Tripp assured fans that the club intends to offer Munster another deal if he seeks to play in 2028.

"We don't want Cam going anywhere," Tripp stated.

"If he wants to go on, we will definitely look at another deal. We will find a way to make it happen."
