Latrell Mitchell, the prominent fullback and centre for the South Sydney Rabbitohs, is reportedly set to miss the upcoming Ashes series due to ongoing injury concerns.

This season has been particularly tough for Mitchell, who has only participated in 11 games amid significant injuries. His most recent appearance was in Round 23 against the Gold Coast Titans, where he completed all 80 minutes after returning from a prior injury. Unfortunately, he was sidelined for the rest of the season due to complications involving his back and neck.

According to a report by Code Sports, Mitchell has been advised to avoid any contact or training for at least a month, effectively ruling him out of the opportunity to travel with the Kangaroos to England for the Ashes revival.

This Ashes series, the first in over twenty years, will feature three Tests between the Kangaroos and England. It presents a significant opportunity for Australia's new coach, Kevin Walters, to demonstrate his capabilities and secure a contract for the World Cup scheduled for next year in Australia.

Even though Mitchell hasn't played since Round 23, he would have likely been included in Walters' 22-man squad due to the absence of several other centres who either are injured or have opted to represent different nations.

Notably, Queensland State of Origin debutant Robert Toia has declared his commitment to Tonga, while Stephen Crichton will represent Samoa.
