The NRL has decided to give Michael Jennings the cold shoulder on his 300th game milestone, opting not to roll out the red carpet for the seasoned Sydney Roosters centre.
At 36 years young, Jennings will join the exclusive 300 club when he takes the field for the injury-riddled Roosters against Newcastle on Thursday.
In a typical scenario, NRL honcho Andrew Abdo would hand over the game ball to a player hitting the 300 mark, with a media release praising the player's achievement and the field adorned with a special "300" marker.
However, this time around, the league has put the kibosh on the festivities.
"Due to prior indiscretions, Michael Jennings will not be receiving the VIP treatment for his 300th game," said Abdo in a statement released on Monday.
Despite the lack of pomp and circumstance, Jennings will still lace up his boots for this significant match, showcasing his talent and experience on the field like a true veteran of the game.
His journey to 300 games may not be celebrated in NRL history books, but his impact and contribution in Rugby League will always be remembered.
