Maguire Decides on Broncos Lineup with Hunt, Mam

Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire has faced a tough decision regarding his team's lineup for the upcoming match, ultimately deciding to retain Ben Hunt in the halves while bringing Ezra Mam off the bench for his return.

The challenges continue for 'Madge' as he now contemplates another selection dilemma concerning his outside backs.

Recently, Selwyn Cobbo made his return on the field in the Queensland Cup for the Wynnum Manly Seagulls after a month-long hiatus due to a hamstring injury.

There were doubts about Cobbo's match fitness following his layoff, but he surprised many by delivering a robust performance, running for 123 metres and completing the game without any missed tackles.

This has left Maguire in a predicament over whether to reinstate Cobbo, who played in the Broncos' 2023 NRL Grand Final loss to the Penrith Panthers, or to continue with the less experienced wing combination of Josiah Karapani and Deine Mariner.

Broncos legend Darren Lockyer has shared his perspective on the matter, suggesting that the team may be better off maintaining the wingers who contributed to the historic golden point win against the Canberra Raiders.

"He has been out for a little while. He came back and he has done the little things right," Lockyer stated in an interview with Wide World of Sports' QLDER.
