In a true underdog tale, Josh King has emerged as yet another shining example of Melbourne Storm's ability to transform fringe players into key contributors.

Under the guidance of master coach Craig Bellamy, King has gone from a bit-part player at Newcastle to a reliable force in the Melbourne machine.

After struggling to secure a regular spot in the Newcastle lineup for six seasons, King made the move to Melbourne in 2022 and has since become a mainstay in the team, playing 25 games in his first season, 26 in the following year, and 25 this season.

His consistent performances have earned him the trust of Bellamy, who considers him one of the first names on the team sheet every week.

Despite the unfortunate absence of fellow prop Nelson Asofa-Solomona in the upcoming NRL grand final, King remains focused on his own role and the team's success.

He acknowledges the surreal nature of his standing within the Melbourne squad, crediting his hard work and dedication to the game.

As the Storm prepares to face off against Penrith in the grand final, King remains steadfast in his commitment to his role within the team, displaying the same work ethic and determination that has propelled him to success in Melbourne.

The former electrician turned rugby league star is grateful for the opportunity to contribute to one of the top teams in the league and is ready to give his all on the biggest stage in Australian rugby league.
