How Jayme turned fractured fairytale into a dream comeback
Jayme Fressard openly shares her love for yoghurt, but the real key to her impressive recovery from a fractured right elbow has been her dedication and hard work rather than just nutrition.
At 28 years old, the Roosters winger faced a serious setback when she was taken off the field via medi-cab during Round 1 at Allianz Stadium. This occurred after her arm became trapped in a tackle, resulting in torn ligaments and a partial dislocation.
Initially, doctors estimated a recovery time of six to eight weeks. Fressard, however, aimed for the shorter timeframe, determined to return quickly.
In an impressive display of resilience, she stepped back onto the field at Polytec Stadium in Gosford for the Round 7 match against the Knights, playing for 27 minutes in the team's 30-14 victory.
Thanks to her commitment to rehabilitation, Fressard demonstrated that her arm and elbow were strong enough for competition. Consequently, coach John Strange opted not to place her back on the left wing, where the tackle count would be lower. Instead, he positioned her among the forwards, showcasing his trust in her abilities.
