The Canberra Raiders have made an exciting announcement, revealing that they have signed English International Morgan Smithies on a three-year deal starting in 2024.
This news comes straight from the Raiders' official website, raiders.com.au.
Smithies, who is 22 years old, has already amassed an impressive 114 appearances for the Wigan Warriors since his debut in 2019.
Out of these matches, 105 were in the Super League, while he also made 9 appearances in the Challenge Cup.
This season, Smithies had the honor of representing England for the first time in their mid-season test match against France.
The young forward had a fantastic personal season, culminating in a Super League Grand Final victory with Wigan against the Catalans Dragons.
Although Smithies predominantly plays as a lock, he is versatile enough to also feature on an edge.
The Raiders have a successful track record of bringing in English players, and Raiders NRL Recruitment Manager Joel Carbone believes that Smithies' experience in big games will make him a valuable addition to the squad.
