Addin Fonua-Blake, despite being ineligible to play for the NSW Blues, has expressed his support for the current State of Origin eligibility guidelines.
Fonua-Blake, a Sydney native who began his rugby career with the Mascot Jets, made the decision to rule himself out of future Origin selections in 2017 when he accepted a spot on New Zealand's World Cup squad.
Although he only played one match for New Zealand, many fans believe it's unfair to disqualify him from Origin consideration based on this.
However, the Cronulla Sharks prop stands firm on the existing rules, stating, "I reckon they should just keep the rules the same.
[Otherwise] a lot of people will get an opportunity that weren't born here." This perspective highlights his belief in maintaining the integrity of eligibility criteria, emphasizing the importance of regional representation in the prestigious competition.
