Dragons coach Shane Flanagan has opened up about his decision to move Tyrell Sloan from the fullback position, comparing it to making a strategic substitution in a high-stakes game.

Flanagan, known for his no-nonsense approach, promised to get to the bottom of his team's inconsistency after a lackluster 30-10 defeat to the Knights.

Frustrated by his team's failure to replicate their strong performance against Manly, Flanagan acknowledged the Knights' superior handling of the atrocious conditions.

"We didn't handle the conditions as well as them," he admitted, using a sporting analogy to highlight his team's shortcomings.

Highlighting the Knights' tactical superiority, Flanagan praised their kicking game and ability to convert last tackle plays into points.

"They kicked better, scored three tries off kicks - credit to them," he said, subtly hinting at the need for his team to up their game in order to compete at a higher level.

As Flanagan dissected the game, he pinpointed the crucial moments where the tide turned against his team.

"Those three kick tries probably changed the game," he reflected, using historical Rugby League references to illustrate the impact of tactical plays on the outcome.

In the face of defeat, Flanagan remains determined to rally his troops and turn their fortunes around.

With the toughness of a seasoned coach, he emphasized the need for his players to learn from their mistakes and adapt to the challenges that lie ahead.
