Dragons Interim Coach Calls for Change

‘He’s had enough’: Dean Young reveals Flanagan chat... and tough call on ‘longtime’ friend

Dean Young revealed that Shane Flanagan expressed he had "had enough" during a recent conversation as the new interim head coach of the Dragons reflected on a tumultuous 24 hours and his vision for the club's future.

Young was appointed to the coaching position on Monday afternoon and promptly began implementing changes to the team, even if he's hesitant to label it that way.

"We need change," he asserted to the media.

This shift began with the decision to move Kyle Flanagan to the bench, where he will provide cover for both the halves and hooker Damien Cook, given that Jacob Liddle is unavailable.

Stepping in for Flanagan is teenage halfback Kade Reed, who is set to make his long-anticipated NRL debut, albeit under challenging circumstances for the winless Dragons.

Upon learning at 5:30 PM on Monday that he would lead the Dragons for the rest of the season, Young focused on implementing three key changes.
