This week in history, we take a trip back to 1983 when the Cronulla Sharks were on the hunt for some eager young lads to carry their precious sand bucket.
It's hard to imagine now, but back then, a video-shop membership, a street directory, and a CD Walkman were all considered cutting-edge technology.
You could say they were as useful as a ball boy's sand bucket! Arthur Winn, the club secretary, knew he needed reliable and dedicated ball boys to ensure the smooth running of the games.
Little did he know, those young lads would become a part of rugby league history.
Fast forward four decades, and we can't help but wonder what that application form would have looked like.
Would it have asked for agility, a quick eye, and the ability to dodge players in the heat of the game? It's fascinating to see how the sport has evolved, leaving certain relics behind.
As the Cronulla Sharks reflect on this historic week, they can't help but appreciate the progress made and the stories those famous ball boys have to tell.
