Saifiti Announces Medical Retirement

The Dolphins have bid farewell to one of rugby league's esteemed front-rowers, Daniel Saifiti, who has announced his medical retirement from the NRL.

Saifiti joined the Dolphins for the 2025 season after a distinguished career with the Newcastle Knights, establishing himself as a formidable force in the middle.

Making his debut in 2016, he played 191 games in the NRL, scoring 21 tries and gaining recognition as a tough and dedicated forward.

He also represented NSW in seven Origin matches and participated in three Tests for Fiji.

Unfortunately, his time with the Dolphins was cut short due to a serious shoulder injury sustained in Round 8 against the Canberra Raiders while scoring a try.

Despite surgery and extensive rehabilitation efforts, he has not regained the necessary fitness to continue playing, resulting in his tough decision to retire.

Though his time with the Dolphins was limited, Saifiti made an immediate impact with his experience and team-first attitude.

The 30-year-old significantly contributed to fostering a culture of professionalism and high standards within the club.
