Canterbury Bulldogs centre and five-eighth Stephen Crichton could potentially return to play this week as his team strives to maintain their faltering finals aspirations.
During Saturday's match, Crichton was taken off the field in alarming circumstances, transported via medicab while wearing a neck brace.
In a passing attempt, Crichton was struck from behind, slightly late, by Raiders second-rower Noah Martin, causing him to hit the ground and receive immediate care from medical personnel from both teams.
The game experienced a lengthy delay as every precaution was taken to ensure Crichton's safety.
Medical staff later clarified that the spinal board and neck brace were merely precautions due to Crichton's previous nerve and shoulder issues.
On Monday, Crichton took to social media to express gratitude to his supporters and to affirm that his injury was "nothing too serious."
"Thank you all for the messages & prayers! Doesn't go unnoticed!" Crichton stated in a social media story.
"Nothing too serious, but I appreciate the love and support."
According to News Corp, Crichton has undergone scans and the results indicate it is only a minor injury, suggesting he may miss minimal time, if any.
