The Bulldogs' 2026 season has concluded on a sour note, as they lost 34-20 to the Brisbane Broncos at Accor Stadium on Thursday night.
Having made the finals in 2024 and finishing third the previous year, Canterbury's hope to return to the postseason in 2026 ended with another disappointing outing.
Canterbury failed to take advantage when Broncos forward Payne Haas was sent to the sin bin for 10 minutes.
During this time, they managed to score a try through Lachlan Galvin, but also conceded one.
It was a night marred by mistakes for the Bulldogs, who committed 16 errors and missed 46 tackles, allowing Brisbane to dominate.
Coach Cameron Ciraldo expressed his disappointment, stating he expected more from his team in front of their supporters.
"I'm shattered," he said during the post-match press conference.
"It's been tough. Poor errors and no patience."
Ciraldo noted their focus had been on putting forth their best effort, adding, "I'm shattered we didn't."
"I thought we had a lot to play for considering we're back at home."
