Jack Cogger, the five-eighth for Penrith, is likely done until at least Week 2 of the NRL finals.
The 29-year-old received two charges during Thursday night's 22-14 victory against the Storm in Melbourne.
His first offense was for Dangerous Contact on Angus Hinchey in the 52nd minute, resulting in a $3,000 fine after an early guilty plea.
Just nine minutes later, Cogger was charged again with a Grade 2 Careless High tackle for hitting Tyran Wishart.
He now faces a three-match suspension if he pleads guilty early, which could extend to four matches if he loses at the NRL Judiciary.
This is a risky situation since Cogger has already faced suspension twice for high tackles this season.
His likely absence could pave the way for Blaize Talagi to start in the halves, though Jack Cole is another potential option for coach Ivan Cleary.
If Penrith triumphs in Week 1 of the NRL finals, Cogger won't be eligible to return until the Preliminary Finals.
The Panthers are set to face the Bulldogs next Friday night at CommBank Stadium in NRL Round 26.
