Following Thursday night's game, both the Broncos and Storm appear hesitant about permanently altering the NRL's kick-off rules.
After Melbourne secured a 46-20 victory at Suncorp Stadium, where the 'receive' option was selected just twice out of 12 possible instances, Brisbane's coach Michael Maguire expressed skepticism regarding any changes favored by league officials.
"I'm not sure whether it'll come in or not," Maguire stated.
"I do like the game the way it is, it's a great game so you don't need to tinker too far especially the way the game's going at the moment."
Storm captain Harry Grant took a firmer stance, attributing current issues in the game to recent rule changes.
"Personally I've loved the game since I was four years old," Grant remarked.
"I think (the kick-off) is part of the fabric of the game and we don't need to change it, we're bringing in a rule to counteract the other rules we've brought in.
"Maybe we can have a deep hard look at going back on a few other rules if that's where we sit with it.
"There's no real reward for it and I'm pretty strong on that... maybe it's time to stay with what it is."
Before the Round 26 encounter, Storm coach Craig Bellamy also conveyed his doubts about the proposed changes.
"It's something that someone thinks might be a good idea," Bellamy said dryly.
