The St George Illawarra Dragons have secured another talented young forward, as Jacob Webster has signed a two-year contract extension with the team.
The 23-year-old made his first-grade debut in Round 23 against the Cronulla Sharks, coming off the bench for 33 minutes in a remarkable win for the Dragons. He quickly made an impact, registering 30 tackles and breaking through one tackle in what was a solid introduction to the NRL.
Since his debut, Webster has appeared off the interchange bench in every match, and he is expected to wear jersey 17 again on Friday night during the Dragons' clash with the Manly Sea Eagles.
His rise within the NRL has now been recognized with a two-year extension, further adding to the Dragons' roster of retained young talent.
This move is part of a strong trend in recruitment and retention for the Red V, which has been one of the most proactive clubs in the NRL market recently.
Webster's journey to the NRL started with the Kempsey Dragons, after which he moved to Wollongong as a teenager to join the Steelers' junior program.
He progressed through the ranks, stepping into Jersey Flegg in 2022 while also being selected for the NSW Under 19s and gaining experience in NSW Cup.
Continuing his development over the next two seasons, he became a consistent part of the Dragons' NSW Cup middle rotation and earned a starting position in the team's 2025 Grand Final.
Now, having made the transition into the NRL and showcased his talent in the early matches, Webster has secured his future with the Dragons as they continue to cultivate a young forward pack for the future.
