Airline timetables dominate John Strange's life when it comes to following his son Ethan's rugby league career.
Last August he made frantic airport runs to see Ethan make his NRL debut at centre for the Raiders against the Storm at AAMI Park.
Next Wednesday he faces another logistical scramble, travelling from the Blues women's camp on the Gold Coast to Sydney to witness Ethan's Origin debut at Accor Stadium and then flying back early to lead NSW in Game Three at Cbus Super Stadium.
Ethan is relishing the opportunity to learn from starting halves Nathan Cleary and Mitchell Moses as his role for the Origin opener becomes clearer.
Named as injury cover, the young back could also be Laurie Daley's X-factor if the match is tight in the second half.
After helping the Raiders to last season's minor premiership, Ethan earned selection in the Kangaroos Ashes squad where he first formed links with Cleary and Moses.
