Brisbane's defensive coach Ben Te'o seems poised to depart from the NRL team following a significant disagreement with coach Michael Maguire.

The club's leadership engaged in several meetings on Tuesday morning and were anticipated to announce the fate of the 2014 South Sydney premiership winner and former Broncos player once a conclusion was reached.

Reports suggest that Te'o has submitted his resignation.

This 39-year-old recently extended his contract through to the end of 2028 after last year's grand final success.

According to News Corp, tensions arose between Maguire and Te'o regarding defensive strategies during a discussion in Melbourne, just before Brisbane's 18-14 comeback victory on Friday night.

Interestingly, it was Te'o's approach to scrambling defense-a tactic crucial to the 2025 championship win-that was pivotal in the match, as the Broncos successfully defended against multiple Storm attempts.

AAP has reported that a crisis meeting took place on Monday night involving Maguire, football boss Troy Thomson, and Te'o.

Te'o has not yet commented on the specific reasons behind his likely departure.

Brisbane players Ben Talty and Brendan Piakura addressed the media on Tuesday morning after the news of the Te'o situation emerged.
