Cleary Avoids Punishment After Broncos Match

MRC Delivers Ruling on Nathan Cleary

Nathan Cleary has avoided any repercussions from the Match Review Committee (MRC) after the Penrith Panthers narrowly lost 14-12 to the Brisbane Broncos on Thursday night.

During the first 20 minutes of the match, the Panthers' halfback was reported for a dangerous tackle on Ezra Mam; however, the MRC chose not to impose any sanctions against him.

This decision not only keeps Cleary in the running for the 2026 Dally M Medal but also ensures his availability as Penrith aims for the minor premiership.

In contrast, Panthers hooker Freddy Lussick received a Grade One Dangerous Tackle charge for his hit on Broncos prop Payne Haas in the 46th minute. He faces a $750 fine if he pleads early, or a $1,000 fine if he contests the charge and is found guilty. His penalty is mitigated due to maintaining a clean record over the past three years.

Meanwhile, Broncos prop Ben Talty has been issued a Grade One High Tackle charge for his involvement with Scott Sorenson. He faces a $1,000 fine, which could escalate by an additional $500 should he decide to challenge the ruling and be unsuccessful.
