In a gripping Super League match, Catalans Dragons edged out Wakefield Trinity 24-20 in a Golden Point thriller in Perpignan.

Despite a strong start by Trinity, which was led by captain Mike McMeeken and winger Tom Johnstone, they ultimately fell short against their former teammates.

Catalans benefitted from the return of Nick Cotric and Elliott Whitehead and made a remarkable comeback from an 18-8 halftime deficit.

The game began with Wakefield on the offensive, but a try by Josh Rourke was disallowed for a knock-on.

The first try came in the 17th minute when Max Jowitt scored after an impressive offload from Josh Griffin, with Jowitt converting for a 6-0 lead.

Catalans lost winger Tommy Makinson to a head injury assessment, and substitute Mathieu Laguerre made an error with a knock-on shortly thereafter.

This victory marks the Dragons' fifth win in six games, signaling a turnaround in their season after a difficult start.
