The Bulldogs have come under fire for their decision to shift Lachlan Galvin, who shows promise as a five-eighth, into the halfback role, as the team's 2026 season takes a turn for the worse.
With only one win in their last six matches, currently sitting at 12th place, coach Cameron Ciraldo continues to rely on Galvin as his halfback, even as the team's offense falters.
Despite the struggles, Galvin has emerged as one of the standout performers for the Bulldogs this season. However, he seems to lack confidence in his new position as a No.7.
Braith Anasta is optimistic about Galvin's future potential as one of the premier playmakers in the league, but emphasized that this opportunity may be lost if he remains in the wrong position.
"Lachlan Galvin is going to be a great five-eighth, but they're playing him halfback," Anasta stated during an appearance on NRL 360.
"No one's criticising him. He's doing a great job and the best job he can, but it's a problem because he's not playing five-eighth. That's a problem."
