Phil Gould has raised questions regarding Lachlan Galvin's future with the Canterbury Bulldogs.

The halfback no longer appears to be a definite choice for the number seven position, indicating a shift in the club's strategy.

When the Bulldogs secured Galvin's services halfway through the 2025 season, they were performing at the top of the table.

However, the club has since implemented several changes, including Reed Mahoney's exit, which left the dummy half role to Bailey Hayward.

The Bulldogs' attacking performance has noticeably declined, resulting in a devastating run of form leading up to a critical match against the origin-depleted Melbourne Storm this Friday.

Despite his commendable effort, Galvin has faced criticism for his performance, particularly in a struggling combination with Matt Burton.

Now, the Bulldogs' director of football, Phil Gould, suggests that the team may need to consider alternative options going forward.

"Lachlan Galvin, he's a very special individual and he's a very special talent," Gould stated on the Bye Round Podcast.

"But he's a 20-year-old kid playing in a very, very important position. And you've got to consider Lachlan Galvin's grounding coming into this."

"Galvin, I don't think I've ever seen this too often before, went from schoolboy football to NRL with the West Tigers. He didn't play any SG Ball."

"He didn't play any Jersey Flegg. He didn't play any NSW Cup. He finished a schoolboy season."
