The Brisbane Broncos have made a bold move with star player Ezra Mam, sending him to work on a building site in Brisbane as a 'reality check' for the $4 million NRL sensation.
This decision, which reflects the changing culture under new coach Michael Maguire, comes after Mam faced legal trouble following a car crash in October.
The NRL is expected to impose a ban on Mam once his court case is settled, meaning the Broncos will be without him at the start of the 2025 season.
Maguire has emphasized the need to support Mam not just as a football player, but as a person.
As part of Mam's rehabilitation, former NRL great Scott Sattler revealed that Mam has been getting hands-on experience in a regular tradie job on a building site.
This move aims to give Mam a taste of life outside of the football bubble and provide him with a new perspective.
"I was hesitant to share this information, but I believe it's important to be transparent," Sattler explained on SEN radio.
"Despite his past actions, it's worth noting that Ezra Mam has been working as a chippie on a building site for over a week now since leaving rehab.
This experience is a part of his journey towards personal growth and self-improvement."
