The Brisbane Broncos are facing a challenging start to their title defence due to a troubling injury list.
At the forefront of these concerns is Reece Walsh, the Clive Churchill medal winner, who is currently sidelined with a cheekbone injury.
Recently, Walsh was seen in the hospital nursing an injury to his foot, although it was just a cut that won't prolong his recovery.
Amidst speculation of a potential return this week against the Bulldogs, coach Maguire has clarified the situation with some important news regarding the talented fullback.
"I'm hoping Reece might be back next week," Maguire shared during an interview on SEN radio.
"Could be the week after but he is working hard in the background. He is seeing the surgeons next week and they're happy with how he is coming along. He just poked his toenail, he'll be right."
Meanwhile, the Broncos celebrated a hard-fought victory against the Wests Tigers but suffered further setbacks, as Payne Haas is expected to be out for six weeks due to an MCL injury.
Additionally, Kotoni Staggs played through a plantar fascia problem in his foot, complicating the team's situation.
Jesse Arthars, who stepped in for Walsh, also faces challenges after sustaining a tear to the interosseous membrane in his leg.
