The Brisbane Broncos have opted not to reinstate Ezra Mam directly into their NRL lineup now that his nine-match suspension for driving under the influence and without a license has ended.
Instead, he will make his return through the Queensland Cup following the team's recent loss to Penrith during Magic Round.
Reports from au.news.yahoo.com confirm that Mam is available for selection this weekend but will not immediately play against Souths.
Broncos captain Adam Reynolds emphasized that Mam needs to earn his way back onto the main team.
"He won't play (for the Broncos) this week," Reynolds stated.
He acknowledged Mam's positive mindset as he has been supportive of the team and actively attended games during his suspension.
Reynolds highlighted the importance of a player's timing and fundamentals after a long absence, noting, "Any player who has spent a long time out of the game, they want to get their timing back and go through the simple things and make sure they do that right."
