In a heated conclusion to the Rabbitohs' season, Wayne Bennett criticized the Bunker for its controversial decisions during a recent match against the Knights.
The turning point occurred early in the second half, when halfback Jayden Sullivan seemed to have put the Rabbitohs ahead by scoring a try.
However, after reviewing the play, the Bunker decided to overturn the try, claiming Alex Johnston had lost possession of the ball prior to Sullivan's score.
Initially validated by referee Ashley Klein, the try was nullified after the Bunker evaluated that Johnston had knocked the ball on rather than being stripped by Knights back-rower Jermaine McEwen.
Bennett expressed his frustration, questioning the Bunker's consistency, especially after it upheld a referee's call when Dominic Young scored for the Knights just minutes later.
"The quicker they get rid of the bunker, the happier I'll be," Bennett stated, highlighting his displeasure with the technology's intervention.
He recalled a similar incident from the previous year involving Canberra, emphasizing his belief that anyone familiar with the game would agree it was a knock-on.
He remarked, "The ball was knocked out of his hands. Then, to award no try, the referee awards a try, then the bunker flies in and says it's a no try."
