Jillaroos centre Julia Robinson may miss the rest of the World Cup after being taken to hospital with a suspected broken wrist.
Her injury came during Australia's 78-0 victory over England in Perth on Saturday, when the Jillaroos scored 15 tries.
The win followed a 40-0 result against Samoa and extended Australia's pursuit of a fourth consecutive World Cup title.
England had beaten Wales 70-6 and hoped to improve on its 90-4 loss to Australia in Las Vegas last year.
England coach Stuart Barrow summed up the gulf, saying, "They're dominant."
Ranked 13th, Wales have conceded 146 points and scored six across their first two games; Australia is their next opponent.
Australia has secured a semi-final place, and coach Jess Skinner may rest players and give emerging talent a chance against Wales in Sydney next Sunday.
Captain Isabelle Kelly said, "When you pull on the Jillaroos jersey, it's about chasing excellence and being the best you can be."
England face Samoa in Wollongong next Friday, with the winner advancing to the semi-finals and the loser eliminated.
Barrow said England's young players would gain valuable experience as the team works to close the gap by the 2030 World Cup.
